First Minnesota Bank was honored again as a “Top Fundraising Corporate Team” for the Twin Cities Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The bank’s chairman, Lowell Wakefield, was also recognized as a “Top Fundraising Individual Walker.”
Alzheimer’s Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota held four Walk to End Alzheimer’s events last weekend in Grand Forks, Minneapolis, Owatonna, and Red Wing. During the last weekend alone, the organization raised over $1.6 million. As the top fundraising corporate team, First Minnesota raised some $44,300 through a check from the bank in May and from the 79 participants on the bank’s team, according to the Alzheimer’s Association’s website.
“Thank you to all of our customers, employees, and friends who were able to join us!” the bank said on it’s Facebook page.
