Community banks compete in food drive, raise a combined $26,000

Two Minnesota community banks challenged each other to a food drive and raise a combined $26,000 in food and funds for Valley Outreach, a human service organization based in Stillwater, Minn.

The two banks – Lake Elmo Bank and First State Bank & Trust, Bayport, Minn. – have challenged each other to food drives since 2014. What prize does the winner earn? The president of the losing bank has to deliver bagels to the winning bank.

This year Lake Elmo Bank edged out their friends with a total collection of 1,055 pounds of food and just under $14,000 in cash. Combined – both banks collected and raised over $26,000 in food and money for the 2019 campaign. As Lake Elmo Bank was the obvious winner, Pete Clements (left), President of FSBT, delivered bagels to Lake Elmo Bank President/CEO Dan Raleigh on May 29.

“Once again, I am amazed by the generosity of our employees, our customers and friends in the community who all rally around our Fun & Friendly Food Drive Competition,” said Christine Clark, Vice President of Lake Elmo Bank. “We received the winning title this year, but those in the community who use and benefit from our local food shelf are the real winners.”
