I called BRET Instruments and what a wealth of information the lady there gave me. Debbie Charlton has been rebuilding and flow testing injectors for over 10 years... and has almost all of this info IN HER MIND... wow, what a woman!!! BRET rebuilds injectors, the system computer, the pressure sensor, and the fuel pump. It seems they have a VERY LOW failure rate. 1-714-835-4064.

Here is the scoop on the injector types. The yellow injectors are for 1.6 to 1.8 Liter engines. Part # 0-280-150-007 or 009. The flow rate is 265CC per minute. These are the standard 1600 VW Type III injector. Porsche also uses them on their 1.7 Liter.

The next injector is the Bosch unit used on the Porsche 1.8 Liter. I want to say up front that even though these look like the standard Bosch unit, there are some differences between these and the VW type. The connector plug is different and would have to be changed on the wiring harness. But the thing that makes this injector worthless for a VW application is, the flow rate is bellow the 009 unit above... it is only 188cc a minute. Seems the L-Jetronic FI system does not need the flow that the D-Jetronics needs. Part # 0-280-150-112. Lucas makes this too as Part# 5202001.

The Green injector is used on the 2.0 Liter Porsche with D-Jetronics. It will work on a 90.5 X 78.4 MM VW (2017cc or 2.0 Liter) engine just fine. Can go all the way up to a 2.2 Liter. The Bosch part # is 0-280-150-019 or 038.

I hope this helps everyone out. It seems that a lot of us thought the 1.8 Liter Porsche L-Jetronics injector was the answer...but...well, live and learn.

...remanufacture all of the pressure sensor models and injectors (I got some good junkyard injectors that had Bret casted on them). Their number is (714)835-4064 and (800)616-3254. ~Author Unknown
