Community banking has experienced many changes since 1962, the year Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota was founded. In that time, ICBM has helped hundreds of Minnesota's independent community banks successfully manage change, grow their banks, and maintain their independence. As our members continue to change and grow, so does ICBM.
Today, we offer our members:
Full-Time Legislative Representation
ICBM is the only banking association in Minnesota that offers exclusive State Capitol representation for independent community banking. David Skilbred, Government Relations, represents the interests of our member banks. He lobbies on behalf of independent community banks and stays atop legislative issues, informing members of new laws and regulations and explaining what they mean for ICBM's member banks.
New Legislative Tools
ICBM now offers its members the ability to follow bills online, stay up-to-date on important issues affecting community banking, search for government representatives, and contact representatives using a new editable contact form.
Networking opportunities for ICBM members range from regional meetings of bankers and staff to coordinated networking programs. More information is available on the following member networks in the Member Networks section of our website:
- Ag Lending
- Chief Credit Officer
- Human Resources
From the bank president to front-line staff, we offer targeted courses at reduced rates that increase knowledge and build skills at all job levels. Topics change regularly to match the immediate needs of our members. ICBM offers face-to-face seminars and a vast array of webinars to keep you and your staff on track and up to date with the latest in banking. We've also partnered with ICBA so that all members who desire in-depth learning access ICBA's online training programming. Finally, ICBM facilitates the Family Held Bank Institute, which combines education for the unique needs of a family-run business with succession planning for community bankers.
